Wow, a new post...Can you believe it?

Hey guys,
I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted. A lot has been going on around here. From yard sales, to the beach, to the pool we've been having a blast this summer! The kids are at a perfect age for us to have lots of fun. They are really flourishing into independent, beautiful people. Not to say that we don't have our days, but I am definitely taking advantage of the freedom I'm experiencing as a mom of older(but not too old with smart mouths yet) kids.

The beach was awesome this year. We saw lots of fun sea creatures including a sting ray, a horseshoe crab, a tiny squid, and Joe even saw a shark. In fact a lady told us that lifeguards had made people get out of the ocean because a decent sized shark had come in close to shore following a school of fish. Yikes! Glad we were in the condo or pool at that time. Sofie made great progress at the condo's pool. She had some healthy competition from another little girl her age, and I think this pushed her to try harder. This year she has mastered jumping off the side of the pool, opening her eyes under water, and even swimming a bit under water. These are great strides for her compared to last summer. Also, she can stand up comfortably in 3ft. of water which also has helped her confidence.

Briar also had good fun at the beach gliding on his skim board. He didn't do too much boogie boarding this year because we couldn't find a rash guard that we liked. It didn't stop him from having fun body surfing in the waves. Man that kid is daring. I'm up to my waste while he's up to his chest with no fear.

First thing we did when we got home was got a pool membership since Sofia has been so progressive swimming. We joined the Brightleaf Golf Resort in Harrodsburg, KY which the pool is about 7 miles from our house, and unlike public pools they stay open through the first week of October instead of closing on Labor day. The only downfall is the loads of men who come in golfing on the weekend who stair too much at the ladies at the pool.

Until Next Time,
Janie
